Looking Forward Into 2013 ~via @Peta_de_Aztlan

It is Tuesday, January 1, 2013. It is a brand new year for us to live through. I pray that we all stay alive, stay alert and awaken.

On a personal level, 2012 was a good year for me. I feel that I am more settled in where I am living at for now, but it is all a kind of transitional living. Life goes on within us and life goes on without us. No matter what happens we need to take care of our health in general. Keep in mind that one’s personal health is the greatest wealth.

I am looking forward into 2013. I hope there will be a lot of progress in different areas of life for all of us, especially in relation to advancing our collective efforts in the direction of Global Liberation. At the same time, we need to work on our Spiritual Liberation as humane beings who seek a better world for all of us upon Mother Earth.

Character Defects ~

Many of the global problems in the world can be linked back to basic character defects that can manifest on a personal level with local, regional and global consequences and repercussions. Many people do not see the connections and interconnections we need to see. It is all connected reality.

Basic character defects are common in varying degrees in many of us and are commonly known as the seven deadly sins:

“Pride is excessive belief in one’s own abilities, that interferes with the individual’s recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise. Pride is also known as Vanity.

Envy is the desire for others’ traits, status, abilities, or situation.

Gluttony is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.

Lust is an inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body.

Anger is manifested in the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury. It is also known as Wrath.

Greed is the desire for material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of the spiritual. It is also called Avarice or Covetousness.

Sloth is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work.”

Even typing the word ‘sin’ can make the mind reject the whole concept of sin as merely being reliigous. I am talking about mortal sins in terms of how they have the potential to ruin our lives, to cause havor in our personal relations and create severe sickness in our souls.

We may not be able to get rid of all our character defects to any absolute degree. No one can lay a valid claim to perfection. At least we can be aware of the potential of them to cause disorders, disturbances and disruptions in our lives. So we should be aware their potential presence in our psyche and in all our relations.

There are other core character defects that are present in many personalities that at first glance may not seem to be defects. I consider the extremes of sexism, racism, nationalism and tribalism as being serious defects that cause a lot of harm, pain and suffering in our lives.

Spiritual Beings ~

We need to evolve and look at life from a spiritual state of being. As sentient beings we exist in the trinity of the mind, body and soul. Any conflict in any one of these three realms affects the other two. We need to strive for balance in our lives, strive to live in harmony with each other and seek a basic solidarity based upon our common needs: food, clothing, shelter, medical care and quality education.

All of what we are on a personal level is not contained in the mind alone. We also have an inner spirit that many of us fail to be in harmony with and then our disharmony within can cause many problems in our lives. The mind is overrated by many and the spirit is neglected or poorly understood. It needs close attention. The mind is closely associated with the ego which has a tendency to get inflated and out of proportion if we become arrogant and are not humble.

The mind can be marvelous. It should be respected as the throne of thought, but the spirit can help guide us in our lives on a moment-to-movement basis. The spirit is more in tune with our beingness, the mind can often play tricks and us and deceive. We should love all of who we are as we remember that we are actually human beings, not human doings. We should strive to be in harmony with our inner being and keep an internal unity as we maintain the brain. We can reach our excellence as spiritual beings, yet sriving for dynamic balance we should also recognize the essence of our sensuality and not deny our basic instincts and animal drives.

Prospects for 2013 ~

In 2013, it is certain that politics will remain war without bloodshed and war will remain politics with bloodshed. The human animal is a primitive being often motivated by the will to survive, the will to power and existences haunted by formless fears and crippled by insecurities. As a species we need to evolve beyond being mere human animals into being acutal humane beings who have care, concern and loving compassion for all living beings. Our basic agenda should be based upon our sacred humane rights bestowed upon us by Creator.

The social history of humankind has been a history of the rise and fall of Empires. We have as much a claim to civilization as a pack of rabid dogs. We continue to destroy the ecology of Mother Earth, We are the most predatory beasts on the planet. All these wars that has been fought over the dark ages,  yet there is no world peace. We cannot even feed and house our children.

Despite any New Age exaggeration about the oneness of all life and the great glories of cosmic consciousness, we remain a critically endangered species of life. Some wise ones are chasing ice and many are burning in the hell of violent wars in scattered hotspots.

We see society becoming more and more polarized between the two main classes in class society: the 99+% of the ‘have-nots’ and the -1% of the ‘haves’. An Evil Empire rules the whole world and many do not even recognize its actual existence. Eventually, the Evil Ones of the Evil Empire must be eradicated if they do not abdicate from their positions of power.

A global matrix of connected liberation movements becomes stronger day-and-night, yet many of its vanguard leaders have failed to learn the life-saving lessons of history as guides to future actions. The masses are awakening and it is for sure that Internet Power has been instrumental in our awakenings. Yet many of us have no computers and cannot even read and write wtih basic computer literacy. Once we awaken we need to create comprehensive plans of action and then implement them in our local communities, not just scurry from protest to protect without concentration on the coordination of communications. We must now seize the time and liberate our land, not just occupy land we cannot hold.

We know that we are not alone. There are legions of progressive activists who are coming together, yet we are barely scratching the service. We need to be engaged in the Global Liberation strugle motivated by pure love for the people.

“Where love rules, there is no will to power, and where power predominates, love is lacking. The one is the shadow of the other.”
